The Adventures of Tom Bombadil and Other Verses from the Red Book London George Allen & Unwin 1974 Full-Leather Fine Fine 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Pauline Baynes A beautiful copy of this work, bound in a very high quality unsigned full leather binding. The edition is the eighth impression of 1974. The binding is a rich green leather, faded a little towards brown on the spine, but very clean and with virtually no edgewear. On the front board, there is a gilt title, first in Elvish, then titled "or in the vulgar tongue, the adventures of tom bombadil by j.r.r. tolkien" Internally the book is very clean and tidy. There is a little darkening to the top edge of the ffep, corresponding to the binding. otherwise just a fractional darkening to the page edges. Gift inscription to the ffep. The original wrapper has been bound in to the rear panel of the book, and although creased where folded in, is otherwise immaculate. Overall a very nice copy of this work. Price: 175.00 GBP

The Lord of the Rings Three Volumes One (1) the Fellowship of the Ring Volume Two (2) the Two Towers & Volume Three (3) the Return of the King London George Allen & Unwin 1967 Cloth & Original Wraps Very Good + Very Good + 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall A very nice copy of this set of Second Edition Second Impression books. Very clean and tidy protected dust wrappers*. No significant dirt, there is a touch of dirt to the white rear panel of each book. There is also a touch of darkening to the edges and the white on the spine. No chips. A single 1cm closed tears to the bottom edge of vol. 3. A little bumping / edge wear to the wrapper. Each is neatly clipped. The books themselves are very clean and tidy, with no significant damage to them other than the neat removal of the first ffep to each. Vol 1 and 2 each have a single ffep remaining while vol 3 begins on the half title page. No inscriptions, but there is a neat owners name stamp to the inside front board of each volume. All maps present. (*All our wrappers are protected in removable clear plastic film). Price: 175.00 GBP
